Lauren Desutter

Project Director

Lauren holds a MA in Global Finance, Trade, and Economic Integration from the prestigious Josef Korbel School of International Studies with concentrations in International Development and Nonprofit Management. She also holds a BS in Economics from Texas A&M University. She has consulted for numerous NGO’s around the world, streamlining project management systems and creating monitoring and evaluation strategies. Working across multiple sectors such as global health, microfinance, and community development, has cemented her passion for building underlying economic capacity - the only sustainable solution to endemic cyclical poverty. She currently resides in Colorado Springs with her husband and 2 children, ages 16 and 9.

Daniel Shterk

Marketing & Communications Manager

Daniel grew up in a family of immigrant refugees from the Soviet Union, and has seen the value of entrepreneurship since an early age, his family building their lives from scratch through small businesses in Colorado. He graduated from the University of Denver with a BSBA in International Business and went on to open a small business of his own and manage projects, databases and communication campaigns for international translation firms, international sports media organizations, insurance providers and more. Before joining Alternativ, Daniel spent time traveling around Europe and Northern Africa consulting for international organizations. He’s fluent in Russian and Spanish.

Hannah Monroe

Programs Consultant

 

After receiving her B.A. in Urban Studies concentrating in Public Policy and Issues from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, Hannah worked in government, non-profit, and private sectors to hone her operational and process creation skills. She is excited to bring her previous experience managing programs and building organizational capacity to serve global entrepreneurs with Alternativ. She has seen the impact of entrepreneurial training first-hand and is thrilled to be a part of empowering others in a consultant capacity. She enjoys swing dancing, reading, playing the ukulele, and, of course, traveling.


Carles Fernandez,   Graduate Fellow    Carles , a multilingual professional, who is specialized in international import-export negotiations with Asia and Europe and has over three years’ experience in management. He recently received his MBA from Colorado State University with a focus in finance. He also has a BS in Business Administration from Open University of Catalonia. He has world-wide working experience on three different continents: Australia, Europe, and North America. While living and working in Spain, Australia, France, and The United States, Carles took the opportunity to immerse himself in the cultures and languages found there. As of now, he speaks not only his native Spanish and Catalan, but also French and English fluently. His experiences abroad showed him a different perspective on the world, and the world of business. Now he aims to make an impact on global finance with a purpose. Presently, he is living in Colorado Springs with his wife; finally settling in the United States.

Duy Dao,   Marketing Intern    Duy  is originally from Vietnam. He is currently working on his Business Management degree at University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Prior to interning at Alternativ, Duy has been a nail technician and an assistant manager at two local nail salons. His aspiration is in business development and entrepreneurship. He currently find a way of doing so at Alternativ. His hobbies include talking a solitary walks in the morning, skating and reading.

Alternativ Advisory Board

 
Kim McClelland    Kim  is a native of Colorado Springs and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, including an emphasis in Elementary Education. McClelland served as the Executive Director of the Colorado Digital BOCES in Colorado and founded the organization in 2013. Formerly, she served for 4 years as the Zone Superintendent of the iConnect Zone in Falcon district 49 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. While serving as the iConnect Zone’s superintendent in District 49, McClelland earned a national award for innovation and transformation in education, and has been a speaker for the District Administration Leadership Institute, EdWeek, Colorado Blended and Online Learning conference, and other districts throughout the country. She has served on a statewide committee to support authorizers for the Colorado league of charter schools and NACSA and served on state level legislative commissions for online and blended learning. Kim currently serves as the Executive Director/Principal of New Summit Charter Academy.

Caitlin “Cat” Campbell

Caitlin has a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Marketing from the University of Colorado, is an IRS Enrolled Agent and is certified as a Financial Coach through Crown Financial Ministries and Dave Ramsey’s Lampo Group. She has been coaching clients through their financial challenges and opportunities since 2003 and helping her clients through tax problems since 2011. She is the current President of the Colorado Chapter of National Association of Tax Professionals.

Mike Roth   Originally from New Jersey,  Mike  graduated from West Point and entered into an 8-year period of service with the Army as a Commissioned Officer. Much of his service was devoted to cultivating and developing strong military leadership worldwide. His vast background of lifeguarding, coaching, firefighting, and military expertise are reflective of his devotion to help and serve others. In addition to his international scale of experience, Mike now primarily focuses on investing in his local community of the Pike’s Peak Region as a financial advisor.

Currently, she is Founder and CEO of Foltz International LLC where she runs a global real estate company in Denver, Colorado. Amanda is relentless when it comes to seeing those in bondage set free. For over 10 years she has been speaking, educating and empowering others to walk in freedom using her personal testimony. Her passion to end human trafficking has taken her all around the world. She is the author of the book,  Battle Cry , a call to arms against human trafficking. Amanda and her husband, Joshua currently live in Colorado where they are raising three boys.

In addition to serving with Alternativ, Ms. Vinton Weisseg also volunteers with CASA of the Pikes Peak Region. She and her husband live in the Black Forest and have travelled with Alternativ to facilitate trainings and conduct follow-up research.

Annie Wardle    Annie  is the founder of Talk Out Loud, a digital marketing agency in Denver and Colorado Springs. Her agency specializes in helping businesses with customer acquisition through digital marketing. She has a passion for what she does. Unlike traditional marketing Annie is interested in the measurable results that digital marketing has to offer her clients. Annie grew up in a small town in Delta, Utah. After moving to Colorado in early 2015, she found herself working as the Director of Marketing and Marketing Chair on the Executive Committee for ABBA Eye Care. Near the end of 2016 she left ABBA to pursue her dreams of opening her own marketing agency.

New Horizons Foundation Board of Directors

The Alternativ Project is under the fiscal management of the New Horizons Foundations. New Horizons supports the charitable objectives of their projects. They currently have over 400 projects helping people change the world by turning their vision into reality.
